"Having someone coming and talking about their experiences was a really neat experience. Having someone who is passionate and excited about sharing what they do is very inspiring to me, and everyone should get an opportunity like this."

- Paul, 7th grade student

"We really enjoyed having Elysse in our classroom.  Her presentation was  informative and fun and her sense of humor and ability to connect with middle schoolers brought science to life.  Being young and a woman also gave her the "cool factor" that was inspirational to our students.  We would love to have more scientists visit and share their work."

- Kristina, Teacher for grades 6-8

"Bringing real, working scientists into the classroom takes science out of the textbook and brings it to life. Textbook work can be tedious and doesn’t resemble the work that scientists did to create the content in the book. Guest teachers give students with different learning styles a different avenue of learning. A great benefit for students is that guest professional scientists share their struggles and challenges as well as their triumphs and dreams doing their work as scientists. This makes science and the work of scientists more real and serves as a concrete example of what you can do in your future and broadens the scope of students' vision of themselves."

- Jessie, high school student
